Snow Much Fun
There was a time when a fresh snowfall meant only one thing.
You were going outside.
It didn't matter how cold it was or how long it took to pull on the boots, coats, hats and mittens. There was a snowman waiting to be built and somehow that seemed like the most important thing in the world.
The first snowball was rolled across the yard until it became almost too heavy to move. Then another. And another. A carrot was borrowed from the kitchen, sticks became arms and an old hat and scarf gave him a personality all his own.
He wasn't perfect.
He leaned a little. His smile might have been crooked and one arm was probably longer than the other.
But to the ones who built him, he was wonderful.
Snow Much Fun was created to remember the simple happiness winter once brought. Before we worried about icy roads, heating bills and everything that needed to be done, snow had a way of making us forget the rest of the world for a little while.
Maybe growing older doesn't mean we have to leave all of that behind.
Perhaps every now and then, we just need something to remind us that there is still joy to be found in ordinary days...
and we're never too old to go outside and play.
